निकृन्तन्तमनीकानि शरदंष्टं मनस्विनम्‌ । चापव्यात्ताननं घोरमसिजिह्ठलं दुरासदम्‌

Transliteration

nikṛntantam anīkāni śarad-aṃṣṭraṃ manasvinam | cāpa-vyāttānanaṃ ghoraṃ asi-jihvalaṃ durāsadam ||

Translation

ਧ੍ਰਿਤਰਾਸ਼ਟਰ ਬੋਲੇ—ਮੈਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਵ੍ਯੂਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੱਟਦਾ ਵੇਖਿਆ—ਮਾਨੋ ਸ਼ਰਦ ਰੁੱਤ ਦੇ ਦੰਸ਼ਟਰਾਂ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਪਸ਼ੂ। ਉਹ ਮਨਸਵੀ ਤੇ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ-ਨਿਸ਼ਚਈ ਸੀ; ਡਰਾਉਣਾ—ਧਨੁਸ਼ ਤਾਣ ਕੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਖੋਲ੍ਹੇ ਖੜਾ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸਦੀ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਅੱਗ ਦੀ ਜੀਭ ਵਾਂਗ ਚਮਕਦੀ—ਉਸਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਜਾਣਾ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਔਖਾ ਸੀ।
