Multiple Defensive Engagements to Protect Bhīṣma

तामापतन्तीं सहसा द्विधा चिच्छेद भारत: । क्षुप्राभ्यां सुतीक्षणा भ्यां सा व्यशीर्यत मेदिनीम्‌

Transliteration

tām āpatantīṃ sahasā dvidhā ciccheda bhārataḥ | kṣuraprābhyāṃ sutīkṣṇābhyāṃ sā vyaśīryata medinīm ||

Translation

ਸੰਜਯ ਬੋਲਿਆ—ਜੋ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਧਾਵੀ ਆ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ, ਭਾਰਤਵੰਸ਼ੀ ਭੀਸ਼ਮ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਤਿੱਖੇ ਦੋ ਖ਼ਸ਼ੁਰਪ੍ਰ ਬਾਣਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੋ ਟੁਕੜਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੱਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ; ਉਹ ਟੁੱਟ-ਭੱਜ ਕੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਈ।
