Marutta’s Sacrifice and Agni’s Embassy (मरुत्त-यज्ञे दूतत्वम्)
अग्निरुवाच गन्धर्वराड् यत्वयं तत्र दूतो बिभेम्यहं वासव तत्र गन्तुम् । संरब्धो मामब्रवीत् तीक्षणरोष: संवर्तो वाक््यं चरितब्रह्म॒चर्य:
agnir uvāca gandharvarāḍ yat tvayaṃ tatra dūto bibhemy ahaṃ vāsava tatra gantum | saṃrabdho mām abravīt tīkṣṇaroṣaḥ saṃvarto vākyaṃ caritabrahmacaryaḥ ||
ਅਗਨੀ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—“ਹੇ ਵਾਸਵ (ਇੰਦਰ)! ਜੇ ਉਹ ਗੰਧਰਵ-ਰਾਜ ਉੱਥੇ ਦੂਤ ਬਣ ਕੇ ਜਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਠੀਕ; ਮੈਂ ਖੁਦ ਮੁੜ ਉੱਥੇ ਜਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਡਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮਚਾਰੀ ਸੰਵਰਤ ਨੇ ਇਕ ਵਾਰ ਤਿੱਖੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ—‘ਅਗਨੀ! ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਫਿਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਤਰੀਕੇ ਨਾਲ ਬ੍ਰਿਹਸਪਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਰੁੱਤ ਕੋਲ ਲਿਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ, ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਕ੍ਰੁੱਧ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਨਾਲ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਭਸਮ ਕਰ ਦਿਆਂਗਾ।’ ਹੇ ਸ਼ਕ੍ਰ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਚੇਤਾਵਨੀ ਚੰਗੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਮਝ ਲੈ।”
