Chapter 8
त्रिपुरघ्नं त्रिनयनं त्रिलोकेशं महौजसम् । प्रभवं सर्वभूतानां धारणं धरणीधरम्
tripuraghnaṁ trinayanaṁ trilokeśaṁ mahaujasam | prabhavaṁ sarvabhūtānāṁ dhāraṇaṁ dharaṇīdharam ||
ਮੈਂ ਤ੍ਰਿਪੁਰਘਨ, ਤ੍ਰਿਨੇਤ੍ਰਧਾਰੀ, ਤ੍ਰਿਲੋਕੇਸ਼ਵਰ, ਮਹਾਤੇਜਸਵੀ—ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਦਾ ਮੂਲ, ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ, ਧਰਤੀ ਦਾ ਭਾਰ ਸੰਭਾਲਣ ਵਾਲਾ—ਉਸ ਮਹਾਦੇਵ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
संवर्त उवाच
The verse teaches śaraṇāgati (taking refuge) through stuti: recognizing Śiva as the cosmic source and sustainer encourages humility, trust in divine governance, and alignment with dharma rather than reliance on mere personal power.
Saṁvarta offers a concentrated praise of Śiva using powerful epithets (Tripura-slayer, three-eyed, lord of the three worlds), framing Śiva as the ultimate protector and support of all beings, and implicitly urging surrender to him.
