निवर्ततां च शब्दो5भूत् पूर्णस्येव महोदधे: । उनमेंसे कुछ लोग भागने लगे
nivartatāṁ ca śabdo 'bhūt pūrṇasyeva mahodadheḥ |
ਵੈਸ਼ੰਪਾਯਨ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਕੋਈ ਭੱਜਣ ਲੱਗੇ, ਕੋਈ ਮੁੜ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਦੌੜੇ, ਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਯੁੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਹਟਣ ਲੱਗੇ। ‘ਵਾਪਸ ਮੁੜੋ’ ਦੀ ਘੋਸ਼ ਉਠੀ; ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੋਲਾਹਲ ਪਾਣੀ ਨਾਲ ਭਰੇ ਮਹਾਸਾਗਰ ਦੀ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਗਰਜ ਵਰਗਾ ਸੀ।
