उत्तड़क उवाच राजन गुर्वर्थिनं विद्धि चरन्तं मामिहागतम्‌ । न च गुर्वर्थमुद्युक्त हिंस्पमाहुर्मनीषिण:

Transliteration

Uttaṅka uvāca: rājan gurv-arthinaṃ viddhi carantaṃ mām ihāgatam | na ca gurv-artham udyuktaṃ hiṃsam āhur manīṣiṇaḥ ||

Translation

ਉੱਤੰਕ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—“ਰਾਜਨ! ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗੁਰੂ-ਕਾਰਜ (ਗੁਰੂਦਕਸ਼ਿਣਾ) ਲਈ ਯਤਨਸ਼ੀਲ ਜਾਣੋ; ਉਸੇ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਇੱਥੇ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ। ਮਨੀਸ਼ੀ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ-ਕਾਰਜ ਲਈ ਉਦਯਤ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਸ ਦੀ ਹਿੰਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ।”
