Transliteration

vaya-deva uvāca | vaścid brāhmaṇam āsīnam ācāryaṁ saṁśita-vratam | śiṣyaḥ papraccha medhāvī kiṁsvid śreyaḥ paraṁtapa ||

Translation

ਵਾਯੁ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ—ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਨਿਯਮ-ਵ੍ਰਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ ਇੱਕ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਆਚਾਰਯ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਸਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੈਠਾ ਸੀ। ਤਦ ਇੱਕ ਮੇਧਾਵੀ ਸ਼ਿਸ਼੍ਯ ਨੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਆ ਕੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ—“ਹੇ ਪਰੰਤਪ! ਅਸਲ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਯ ਕੀ ਹੈ?”
