Marutta’s Sacrifice: Indra’s Threat, Saṃvarta’s Mantric Restraint, and Divine Reconciliation (अध्याय १०)
मरुत्त उवाच इममात्मानं प्लवमानमारा- दध्वा दूरं तेन न दृश्यतेड्द्य । प्रपद्ये5हं शर्म विप्रेन्द्र त्वत्तः प्रयच्छ तस्मादभयं विप्रमुख्य
marutta uvāca | imam ātmānaṁ plavamānam ārād dadhvā dūraṁ tena na dṛśyate ’dya | prapadye ’haṁ śarma viprendra tvattaḥ prayaccha tasmād abhayaṁ vipramukhya ||
ਮਰੁੱਤ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਹੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ-ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ! ਇੰਦਰ ਦੂਰੋਂ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ; ਦੂਰਲੇ ਰਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਅੱਜ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਸਰੀਰ ਦਿਸਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ। ਹੇ ਦ੍ਵਿਜੋਤਮ! ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਸ਼ਰਨ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ; ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਹੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ—ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਅਭੈ-ਦਾਨ ਦਿਓ। ਵੇਖੋ, ਵਜ੍ਰਧਾਰੀ ਇੰਦਰ ਦਸਾਂ ਦਿਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚਮਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ; ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਿਆਨਕ, ਅਲੌਕਿਕ ਸਿੰਹਨਾਦ ਨਾਲ ਸਾਡੀ ਯਜ੍ਞਸ਼ਾਲਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਸਭ ਸਦੱਸ ਕੰਬ ਉਠੇ ਹਨ।
