धृतराष्ट्रस्य स्पर्शाभिलाषः — Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Request for Touch and Permission for Tapas

एवं त्वया कुरुश्रेष्ठ वर्तितव्यं प्रजाहितम्‌ । उभयोर्लोकयोस्तात प्राप्तये नित्यमेव हि

Transliteration

evaṁ tvayā kuruśreṣṭha vartitavyaṁ prajāhitam | ubhayor lokayos tāta prāptaye nityam eva hi ||

Translation

ਹੇ ਕੁਰੂਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ, ਤੈਨੂੰ ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਜਾ-ਹਿਤ ਲਈ ਵਰਤਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਕਿਉਂਕਿ, ਤਾਤ, ਪ੍ਰਜਾ ਦੀ ਭਲਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਦਾ ਲੱਗੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਇੱਥੇ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ—ਦੋਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੁਖ-ਕਲਿਆਣ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
