व्यास उवाच
The verse underscores the vast moral and cosmic scope of the Kurukṣetra war: even exalted beings are not untouched by the outcomes of conflict. It points to the seriousness of adharma-driven violence and the inescapability of consequence within the larger order (ṛta/dharma).
Vyāsa is describing the magnitude of the slaughter at Kurukṣetra, stating that not only human warriors but also celestial and semi-celestial orders—Devas, Dānavas, and divine seers—came to that battlefield and met their end.
