Bhāgīrathī-tīra-śauca, Kurukṣetra-gamana, and Śatayūpa-āśrama-dīkṣā (गङ्गातीरशौच–कुरुक्षेत्रगमन–शतयूपाश्रमदीक्षा)
पौराणमात्मन: सर्व विद्यावान् स विशाम्पते । योगधर्म महातेजा व्यासेन कथितं यथा
paurāṇam ātmanaḥ sarva-vidyāvān sa viśāmpate | yoga-dharma-mahātejā vyāsena kathitaṃ yathā ||
ਵੈਸ਼ੰਪਾਯਨ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਜਾਨਾਥ! ਉਹ ਮਹਾਤੇਜਸਵੀ, ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਰਾਜਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਪੁਰਾਤਨ ਸਰੂਪ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ; ਅਤੇ ਵਿਆਸ ਨੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਯੋਗ-ਧਰਮ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਸੀ, ਓਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਆ ਗਿਆ।
वैशम्पायन उवाच
True strength and excellence are grounded in dharma and inner discipline (yoga-dharma). By recalling what Vyāsa taught, the king’s insight shifts from self-estimation to self-knowledge—recognizing the deeper, dharmic source of identity and conduct.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Yudhiṣṭhira, described as learned and radiant, recollects his ancient/inner nature and the yoga-dharma instruction given by Vyāsa, leading him to recognize a shared dharmic origin with Vidura.
