Adhyāya 16 — Daiva, Kṣatriya-dharma, and Public Reassurance to Dhṛtarāṣṭra
प्रेक्षतामेव वो भीम वेपन्तीं कदलीमिव । सत्रीधर्मिणीमरिष्टाड़ीं तथा द्यूतपराजिताम्
prekṣatām eva vo bhīma vepantīṁ kadalīm iva | satrīdharmiṇīm ariṣṭāḍīṁ tathā dyūta-parājitām ||
ਵੈਸ਼ੰਪਾਯਨ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—“ਹੇ ਭੀਮ! ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਹੀ ਉਹ ਕੇਲੇ ਦੇ ਦਰੱਖ਼ਤ ਵਾਂਗ ਕੰਬ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ—ਸਤ੍ਰੀ-ਧਰਮ (ਪਤਿਵ੍ਰਤਾ) ਵਿੱਚ ਅਡੋਲ, ਪਰ ਅਪਸ਼ਗੁਨ ਦੀ ਮਾਰ ਖਾਧੀ ਹੋਈ ਅਤੇ ਜੂਏ ਦੀ ਹਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਦਬੀ ਹੋਈ।”
