ये च भाष्यविद: केचिद्‌ ये च व्याकरणे रता: । अधीयते पुराण ये धर्मशास्त्राण्यथापि च

Transliteration

bhīṣma uvāca | ye ca bhāṣyavidaḥ kecid ye ca vyākaraṇe ratāḥ | adhīyate purāṇe ye dharmaśāstrāṇy athāpi ca ||

Translation

ਭੀਸ਼ਮ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਜੋ ਭਾਸ਼੍ਯਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਵਿਆਕਰਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਤ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਪੁਰਾਣਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਮਸ਼ਾਸਤਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਅਧਿਐਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ—ਐਸੇ ਵਿਦਿਆ ਤੇ ਸਦਾਚਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਪੰਨ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਆਪਣੀ ਹਾਜ਼ਰੀ ਮਾਤਰ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਹੋਰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
