Cyavana Explains His Tests; Kuśika Seeks Brāhmaṇya for His Line (च्यवन–कुशिक संवादः)
तदस्य सम्भवं राजन् निखिलेनानुकीर्तय । कौशिकाच्च कथं वंशात् क्षत्राद् वै ब्राह्मणो भवेत्
tadasya sambhavaṁ rājan nikhilenānukīrtaya | kauśikāc ca kathaṁ vaṁśāt kṣatrād vai brāhmaṇo bhavet ||
ਯੁਧਿਸ਼ਠਿਰ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ— ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ! ਉਸ ਦੇ ਜਨਮ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਪਰਿਸਥਿਤੀਆਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਸੁਣਾਓ। ਕੁਸ਼ਿਕ ਦਾ ਵੰਸ਼ ਤਾਂ ਖ਼ਸ਼ਤਰੀ ਸੀ; ਫਿਰ ਉਸ ਖ਼ਸ਼ਤਰੀ ਵੰਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਹੋਇਆ? ਇਸ ਲਈ, ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ, ਪਰਸ਼ੁਰਾਮ ਦੀ ਉਤਪੱਤੀ ਦਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਵਰਤਾਂਤ ਦੱਸੋ।
