एको विड्वर्ण एवाथ तथात्रैवोपलक्षित: । षडपध्वंसजास्ते हि तथैवासपदान् शृणु
eko viḍvarṇa evātha tathātraivopalakṣitaḥ | ṣaḍapadhvaṃsajāste hi tathaivāsapadān śṛṇu ||
ਭੀਸ਼ਮ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਇੱਥੇ ਵੀ ਇੱਕ ਮਿਲਿਆ-ਜੁਲਿਆ ਵਰਣ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਦਰਸਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਨਿਸ਼ਚਿਤ ਹੀ, ਇਸੇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਛੇ ‘ਅਪਧਵੰਸਜ’ (ਅਨੁਲੋਮ ਸੰਤਾਨ) ਦਰਜ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਹੁਣ ‘ਅਪਸਦ’—ਅਰਥਾਤ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਲੋਮ ਸੰਯੋਗ ਤੋਂ ਜਨਮੇ—ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਵਰਣਨ ਸੁਣ।
