Dāyavibhāga (Inheritance Apportionment) and Household Precedence — Dialogue of Yudhiṣṭhira and Bhīṣma
अनुकूलामनुवंशां क्रात्रा दत्तामुपाग्निकाम् । परिक्रम्य यथान्यायं भार्या विन्देद् द्विजोत्तम:
anukūlām anuvaṁśāṁ ca bhrātrā dattām upāgnikām | parikramya yathānyāyaṁ bhāryāṁ vinded dvijottamaḥ ||
ਭੀਸ਼ਮ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਜੋ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਸੁਭਾਵ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਨੁਕੂਲ ਹੋਵੇ, ਵੰਸ਼ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਰੂਪ ਹੋਵੇ, ਭਰਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਵਿਧੀ-ਪੂਰਵਕ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੋਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਜਵਲਿਤ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਅੱਗ ਦੇ ਨੇੜੇ ਬੈਠੀ ਹੋਵੇ—ਉਹੋ ਜਿਹੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ ਦਵਿਜ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ-ਵਿਧੀ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਅੱਗ ਦੀ ਪਰਿਕ੍ਰਮਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਣ ਕਰੇ।
