Śulka, Kanyā, and Dauhitra-Riktha: Discourse on Bride-Price and Inheritance Rights (शुल्क-कन्या-दौहित्र-रिक्थविचारः)
सम्प्रदध्यौ तथा राजन्नग्नावग्निरिवाहित: । दहामानेन मनसा शापं श्रुत्वा तथाविधम्
sampradadhyau tathā rājann agnāv agnir ivāhitaḥ | dahamānena manasā śāpaṃ śrutvā tathāvidham ||
ਭੀਸ਼ਮ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਹੇ ਰਾਜਨ! ਐਸਾ ਸ਼ਾਪ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਵਿਪੁਲ ਫਿਰ ਡੂੰਘੀ ਸੋਚ ਵਿੱਚ ਡੁੱਬ ਗਿਆ—ਜਿਵੇਂ ਇੱਕ ਅੱਗ ਉੱਤੇ ਦੂਜੀ ਅੱਗ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੋਵੇ। ਉਸ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਹੋਰ ਵੀ ਸੜ ਉਠਿਆ; ਅਤੇ ਅੰਦਰਲੇ ਸ਼ੋਕ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਨਾਲ ਦਗਧ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਸੋਚਣ ਲੱਗਾ ਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਕੀ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
