पात्रलक्षण-परिक्षा (Pātra-Lakṣaṇa Parīkṣā) — Criteria for a Worthy Recipient
यद् ब्राह्मणमुखात् प्राप्तं प्रतिगृह्लन्ति वै वच: । भूतात्मानो महात्मानस्ते न यान्ति पराभवम्
yad brāhmaṇamukhāt prāptaṁ pratigṛhlanti vai vacaḥ | bhūtātmāno mahātmānas te na yānti parābhavam ||
ਭੀਸ਼ਮ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਜੋ ਮਹਾਤਮਾ ਸਭ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਏਕਾਤਮ ਭਾਵ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਦੇ ਮੁਖ ਤੋਂ ਨਿਕਲੇ ਬਚਨ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣ ਮੰਨ ਕੇ ਗ੍ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਅਜੇਹੇ ਪੁਰਖ ਪਰਾਜਯ ਜਾਂ ਵਿਨਾਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ; ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਹ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਜਾਂ ਆਵੇਗ ਨਹੀਂ, ਧਰਮ-ਅਧਾਰਿਤ ਮਾਰਗਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਚੁਣਦੇ ਹਨ।
