यथा ह्ुपस्थितैश्वर्या: प्रजायन्ते न राजसा: । एवमेवात्मना5७त्मानं पूजयन्तीह धार्मिका:
yathā hy upasthitaiśvaryāḥ prajāyante na rājasāḥ | evam evātmanātmānaṃ pūjayantīha dhārmikāḥ ||
ਭੀਸ਼ਮ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਜਿਵੇਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਹੀ ਸਥਾਪਿਤ ਐਸ਼ਵਰਯ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਰਜੋਗੁਣੀ ਉਤਾਵਲੇ ਜਤਨ ਨਾਲ ਮੁੜ ਜਨਮ ਦੀ ਲਾਲਸਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ; ਤਿਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਲੋਕ ਇੱਥੇ ਆਤਮਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਆਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਹੀ ਸਤਿਕਾਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਧਰਮ-ਅਨੁਸ਼ਠਾਨ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਟਤਾ ਨਾਲ, ਆਪਣੇ ਹੀ ਯਤਨ ਦੁਆਰਾ, ਉਹ ਅੰਦਰਲੀ ਸੱਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਚ ਪਦ ਤੱਕ ਉਠਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ—ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਰਜਸ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਨਾਲ ਫਿਰ ਜਨਮ-ਮਰਨ ਦੇ ਚੱਕਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਡਿੱਗਣ।
