Inquiry into the Discipline of Fasting

न गुरावकृतप्रज्ञे शक््यं शिष्येण वर्तितुम् । गुरोहिं दीर्घदर्शित्वं यत् तच्छिष्यस्य भारत
Transliteration
bhīṣma uvāca | na gurāv akṛtaprajñe śakyaṃ śiṣyeṇa vartitum | guroḥ hi dīrghadarśitvaṃ yat tac chiṣyasya bhārata |
Translation
ਭੀਸ਼ਮ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਜਿਸ ਗੁਰੂ ਜਾਂ ਜੇਠੇ ਦੀ ਬੁੱਧੀ ਪੱਕੀ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ, ਉਸ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸ਼ਾਸਨ ਹੇਠ ਸ਼ਿਸ਼੍ਯ ਜਾਂ ਛੋਟਾ ਭਰਾ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਰਹਿ ਸਕਦਾ। ਹੇ ਭਾਰਤ, ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਜੋ ਦੂਰਦਰਸ਼ਤਾ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹੀ ਗੁਣ ਸ਼ਿਸ਼੍ਯ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੀ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਬਿੰਬਤ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ; ਜੇ ਜੇਠਾ ਸੱਚਮੁੱਚ ਦੂਰਦਰਸ਼ੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਛੋਟਾ ਵੀ ਦੂਰਦਰਸ਼ੀ ਬਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
