पुत्रा: प्रदेया ज्ञानेषु कुलधर्मेषु भारत । भारत! उसके गर्भसे संतान उत्पन्न करके वंश-परम्पराको प्रतिष्ठित करे और ज्ञान तथा कुलधर्मकी शिक्षा पानेके लिये पुत्रोंको गुरुके आश्रममें भेज दे ।।
putrāḥ pradeyā jñāneṣu kuladharmeṣu bhārata | kanyā cotpādya dātavyā kulaputrāya dhīmate ||
ਹੇ ਭਾਰਤ! ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਸਤ੍ਰ-ਜ੍ਞਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਲ-ਧਰਮ ਦੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਲਈ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਆਸ਼ਰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੌਂਪਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ; ਅਤੇ ਜੇ ਧੀ ਜਨਮੇ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੰਗੇ ਕੁਲ ਦੇ ਬੁੱਧਿਮਾਨ ਯੋਗ੍ਯ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਆਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੇਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ।
