वैशम्पायन उवाच एवं पृष्टवा तु राजानं कुमारान्‌ पर्यपृच्छत । वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--जनमेजय! राजासे इस प्रकार पूछकर उसने उन कुमारोंसे प्रश्न किया

Transliteration

Vaiśampāyana uvāca: evaṃ pṛṣṭvā tu rājānaṃ kumārān paryapṛcchat.

Translation

ਵੈਸ਼ੰਪਾਯਨ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਜਨਮੇਜਯ! ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੁੱਛ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਕੁਮਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਕ੍ਰਮਵਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤੇ, ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਸੰਬੰਧਤਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਯਥਾਰਥ ਤੇ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰ ਵਰਤਾਂਤ ਮਿਲੇ।
