अर्जुनस्य लक्ष्यवेधः
Arjuna’s Hitting of the Target at the Svayaṃvara
अनेनैव च विख्यातो नाम्ना लोकेषु सत्तम: । स ऑर्व इति विप्रर्षिरूरुं भित्तता व्यजायत,वे साधुशिरोमणि ब्रह्मर्षि अपनी माताका ऊरु भेदन करके उत्पन्न हुए थे, इसी कारण लोकमें “और्व” नामसे उनकी ख्याति हुई
anenaiva ca vikhyāto nāmnā lokeṣu sattamaḥ | sa aurva iti viprarṣir ūruṁ bhittvā vyajāyata |
ਵਸਿਸ਼ਠ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ—ਹੇ ਪੁਰਖ-ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼ਠ! ਇਸੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਉਹ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਖਿਆਤ ਹੋਇਆ। ਉਹ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ-ਰਿਸ਼ੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਮਾਤਾ ਦੀ ਜੰਘ (ਊਰੂ) ਨੂੰ ਚੀਰ ਕੇ ਜਨਮਿਆ ਸੀ; ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿੱਚ ‘ਔਰਵ’ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਸਿੱਧ ਹੋਇਆ।
