Educational Q&A

Moral formation (guṇa) is presented as deeply tied to protection, guidance, and the presence of a dharma-knowing elder; without such support, ethical cultivation becomes difficult and precarious.

A brāhmaṇa laments the impending absence of a righteous guardian and worries that, once the child is left an orphan without refuge, she will be unable to instill the noble virtues that the dharma-wise person would have imparted.
