dakṣaḥ kruddhaḥ śaśāpātha nāradaṃ janma cāpsyasi / nārado hyabhavatputraḥ kaśyapasya muneḥ punaḥ
Narrator (within the Vishnu–Garuda dialogue framework)
Concept: Śāpa as karmic instrument; rebirth can be precipitated by powerful intention and conflict.
Vedantic Theme: Saṃsāra and embodiment (janma) as contingent; even exalted beings participate in līlā through birth narratives.
Application: Restrain anger and speech; recognize that harsh words can create long chains of consequence in relationships and communities.
Primary Rasa: raudra
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.6.17 (context of sons’ loss); Garuda Purana 1.6.20 (enmity persists across births)
This verse highlights that even exalted beings like Nārada can be bound to embodied existence due to a curse, reinforcing the Garuda Purana theme that karma-driven conditions can lead to birth again.
By stating “you shall take birth,” it points to the continuation of saṃsāra—entry into another embodiment—showing that causes (like a curse rooted in anger) can shape one’s next embodied state.
Guard against anger and harsh speech, since harmful intentions and actions can create binding consequences; cultivate restraint and reconciliation to reduce karmic entanglement.
