Kula-amṛta: Śiva’s Teaching to Nārada on Viṣṇu-Dhyāna and Mokṣa
sūta uvāca / nāradena purā pṛṣṭa evaṃ sa vṛṣabhadhvajaḥ / yettena tasmai vyākhyātaṃ tanmayā kathitaṃ tava
Sūta
Concept: Authority of paramparā: what Śiva taught Nārada is faithfully relayed by Sūta, grounding the preceding mokṣa-teaching in reliable transmission.
Vedantic Theme: Śruti-smṛti-purāṇa as pramāṇa via trustworthy lineage; knowledge preserved through guru-śiṣya continuity.
Application: Approach the teaching with śraddhā: study with a competent teacher, keep notes, and recite the passage as a remembered instruction (anuśāsana) rather than mere poetry.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 1.232.15-18 (the teaching just summarized as transmitted)
This verse establishes the authority and lineage of the teaching: Śiva explained it to Nārada, and Sūta transmits the same instruction onward.
It functions as a narrative bridge, clarifying that what follows is not a new invention but a faithful retelling of an earlier divine explanation.
It encourages receiving spiritual instruction through reliable lineages and valuing careful, faithful transmission of sacred teachings.
