Ajāmila Delivered: Viṣṇudūtas Establish the Supremacy of the Holy Name
kim idaṁ svapna āho svit sākṣād dṛṣṭam ihādbhutam kva yātā adya te ye māṁ vyakarṣan pāśa-pāṇayaḥ
Ajāmila, having just been seized by the Yamadūtas, wonders whether the sudden reversal—those noose-bearers disappearing after a wondrous intervention—was a dream or a real, astonishing event witnessed at the moment of death.
Because he had been forcibly dragged by the Yamadūtas and then, after the divine interruption (the appearance of the Lord’s messengers in this episode), the terrifying agents vanished; shocked, he doubts his own perception.
It highlights how quickly life can change at the edge of crisis; cultivating steady remembrance of the Lord’s name and living consciously can replace fear and confusion with spiritual clarity.
