Diti’s Puṁsavana Vow, Indra’s Intervention, and the Birth of the Maruts

एवं स्त्रिया जडीभूतो विद्वानपि मनोज्ञया । बाढमित्याह विवशो न तच्चित्रं हि योषिति ॥ २९ ॥

evaṁ striyā jaḍībhūto vidvān api manojñayā bāḍham ity āha vivaśo na tac citraṁ hi yoṣiti

ਹਾਲਾਂਕਿ ਕਸ਼ਯਪ ਮੁਨੀ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਸਨ, ਪਰ ਉਹ ਦਿਤੀ ਦੇ ਬਨਾਵਟੀ ਵਿਵਹਾਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮੋਹਿਤ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਸਨ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸਦੇ ਵੱਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰ ਲਿਆ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਸਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਦਿਵਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਉਸਦੀ ਇੱਛਾਵਾਂ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕਰੇਗਾ। ਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਵਾਅਦਾ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਵੀ ਹੈਰਾਨੀਜਨਕ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ।
