Sukta 7
मधुमन्मूलं मधुमदग्रमासाम्मधुमन्मध्यं वीरुधां बभूव । मधुमत् पर्णं मधुमत् पुष्पमासां मधोः संभक्ता अमृतस्य भक्षो घृतमन्नं दुह्रतां गोपुरोगवम्
mádhumat mū́laṃ mádhumad ágram āsām mádhumad mádhyaṃ vīrudhā́ṃ babhūva | mádhumat párṇaṃ mádhumat púṣpam āsāṃ mádhoḥ sámbhaktā amṛ́tasya bhákṣo ghṛtám ánnaṃ duhratāṃ gopúro gávam
Honeyed their root, honeyed their summit; honeyed the midmost of the plants hath grown. Honeyed their leaf, honeyed their blossom; sharers in sweetness, food of immortality—let them yield ghee and nourishment, cow-leading, for the cattle-wealth.
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੜ੍ਹ ਮਧੁਮਈ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚੋਟੀ ਮਧੁਮਈ ਹੈ; ਵਿਰੁਧਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਧੁਮਈ ਮੱਧ ਭਾਗ ਉੱਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਪੱਤਾ ਮਧੁਮਈ ਹੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਫੁੱਲ ਮਧੁਮਈ ਹੈ; ਮਧੁ ਦੇ ਸਾਂਝੀਦਾਰ, ਅਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦਾ ਭੋਜਨ—ਉਹ ਘਿਉ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਨ ਦੁਹ ਕੇ ਦੇਣ, ਗੋਪੁਰੋਗਵ (ਗਾਂਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗੇ ਲੈ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ/ਗੋ-ਸੰਪੱਤੀ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ) ਬਣ ਕੇ ਪਸ਼ੁ-ਧਨ ਲਈ।
