बृहता मन उप ह्वये मातरिश्वना प्राणापानौ। सूर्याच्चक्षुरन्तरिक्षाच्छ्रोत्रं पृथिव्याः शरीरम्। सरस्वत्या वाचमुप ह्वयामहे मनोयुजा

IAST Transliteration

bṛhatā́ mána úpa hvaye mātáriśvanā prāṇāpānāú | sū́ryāc cákṣur antárikṣāc chróṯraṃ pṛthivyā́ḥ śárīram | sárasvatyā vā́cam úpa hvayāmahe manoyújā ||

English Translation (Griffith/Whitney)

With the Great One’s might I call the Mind hither; with Mātariśvan I summon in-breath and out-breath. From the Sun (I call) the eye; from the mid-air the hearing; from Earth the body. From Sarasvatī we invoke speech, mind-yoked and obedient.

Translation

ਬ੍ਰਿਹਤ ਦੇ ਬਲ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਥੇ ਸੱਦਦਾ ਹਾਂ; ਮਾਤਰਿਸ਼ਵਨ ਨਾਲ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ-ਅਪਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਆਹਵਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ। ਸੂਰਜ ਤੋਂ ਅੱਖ; ਅੰਤਰਿਕਸ਼ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਣਨ-ਸ਼ਕਤੀ; ਧਰਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਸਰੀਰ (ਆਹਵਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ)। ਸਰਸਵਤੀ ਤੋਂ ਮਨੋਯੁਜ ਵਾਣੀ—ਮਨ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜੀ, ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰੀ—ਅਸੀਂ ਉਪਹਵਾਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ।
