एकाष्टका तपसा तप्यमाना जजान गर्भं महिमानमिन्द्रम्। तेन देवा व्यऽसहन्त शत्रून् हन्ता दस्यूनामभवच्छचीपतिः
ekāṣṭakā tápasā tápyamānā jajā́na gárbhaṃ mahimā́nam índram | téna devā́ vy-àsahanta śátrūn hantā́ dasyū́nām abhavac chacī́patiḥ ||
Ekāṣṭakā, glowing with fervid heat, brought forth in birth the embryo—Indra, very Majesty. Therewith the Gods prevailed and drave their foemen asunder: Śacī’s Lord became the slayer of the Dasyu.
ਏਕਾਸ਼ਟਕਾ ਤਪੱਸ ਨਾਲ ਤਪਦੀ ਹੋਈ, ਮਹਿਮਾਵਾਨ ਇੰਦਰ ਨੂੰ ਗਰਭ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਨਮ ਦੇ ਗਈ। ਉਸੇ ਬਲ ਨਾਲ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਤ ਕੇ ਚਿਤਰ-ਵਿਤਰ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ; ਸ਼ਚੀਪਤੀ ਦਸ੍ਯੂਆਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਹਾਰਕ ਬਣਿਆ।
