Sukta 4

सं हि शीर्षाण्यग्रभं पौञ्जिष्ठ इव कर्वरम्। सिन्धोर्मध्यं परेत्य व्यऽनिजमहेर्विषम्

sáṃ hí śīrṣā́ṇy ágrabhaṃ pauñjíṣṭha iva kárvaram | síndhor mádhyaṃ parétya ví ’nijám ahér víṣam ||

For I have seized together the heads, as the mightiest seizes the speckled serpent: gone to the river’s midst, I have cast apart and stilled the serpent’s poison.

ਮੈਂ ਸਿਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਫੜ ਲਿਆ ਹੈ—ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਚਿੱਤਰੇ ਸੱਪ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਦਰਿਆ ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਮੈਂ ਸੱਪ ਦਾ ਵਿਸ਼ ਵੱਖਰਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਪਰੇ ਸੁੱਟ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
