durbhikṣasaṃpīḍitaputrabhārye yāmī sadā poṣaṇatatpare ca devāgniviprarṣirate ca pitroḥ śuśruṣake bhrātari jyeṣṭhasāmne yattatphalaṃ saṃpravadanti devāḥ sa tat phalaṃ labhate cāsya pāṭhāt // VamP_69.10 caturdaśaṃ vāmanamāhuragryaṃ śrute ca yasyāghacayāśca nāśam prayānti nāstyatra ca saṃśayo me mahānti pāpānyapi nāradāśu

Translation

ଦୁର୍ଭିକ୍ଷକାଳେ ପୁତ୍ର-ଭାର୍ଯ୍ୟା ସହିତ ପୀଡିତ ହୋଇଥିଲେ ମଧ୍ୟ ଯେ ସଦା ତାଙ୍କ ପୋଷଣରେ ତତ୍ପର ରହେ; ଯେ ଦେବ, ପବିତ୍ର ଅଗ୍ନି, ବ୍ରାହ୍ମଣ ଓ ଋଷିମାନଙ୍କ ସେବାରେ ରତ; ଯେ ପିତାମାତାଙ୍କୁ ଶୁଶ୍ରୂଷା କରେ ଏବଂ ଜ୍ୟେଷ୍ଠ ଭ୍ରାତାଙ୍କୁ ସେବା କରେ—ଏପରି ଆଚରଣର ଯେଉଁ ଫଳ ଦେବତାମାନେ କହନ୍ତି, ଏହି ପାଠ ପଢ଼ିଲେ ସେଇ ଫଳ ତାହାକୁ ମିଳେ। ଏହାକୁ ‘ବାମନଙ୍କ ଶ୍ରେଷ୍ଠ ଚତୁର୍ଦ୍ଦଶ (ଅଧ୍ୟାୟ/ପାଠ)’ ବୋଲି କୁହାଯାଏ; ଏହା ଶୁଣିଲେ ପାପରାଶି ନଶ୍ଟ ହୁଏ—ହେ ନାରଦ, ମୋର ଏଥିରେ ସନ୍ଦେହ ନାହିଁ; ମହାପାପ ମଧ୍ୟ ଶୀଘ୍ର ନଶ୍ଟ ହୁଏ।
