अर्जुनस्य वधे क्रूरां करोति सम तदा मतिम्‌ । इधर कर्ण भी नरकासुरकी अन्तरात्मासे आविष्टचित्त होनेके कारण अर्जुनका वध करनेके लिये क्रूरतापूर्ण संकल्प करने लगा

Transliteration

arjunasya vadhe krūrāṁ karoti saṁ tadā matim |

Translation

ବୈଶମ୍ପାୟନ କହିଲେ—ସେତେବେଳେ ସେ ଅର୍ଜୁନବଧ ପାଇଁ କ୍ରୂର ଓ ନିର୍ଦୟ ସଙ୍କଳ୍ପ କଲା। ନରକାସୁର-ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧୀୟ ପ୍ରଭାବରେ ଅନ୍ତରେ ଆବିଷ୍ଟଚିତ୍ତ ହୋଇ କର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଅର୍ଜୁନଙ୍କୁ ମାରିବାକୁ କ୍ରୂର ନିଶ୍ଚୟ କରିଲା।
