ऋषिभि: पूजितं स्कन्नमनयत्‌ स्कन्दतां तत: । षट्शिरा द्विगुणश्रोत्रो द्वादशाक्षिभुजक्रम:

ṛṣibhiḥ pūjitaṃ skannam anayāt skandatāṃ tataḥ | ṣaṭ-śirā dvi-guṇa-śrotro dvādaśākṣi-bhuja-kramaḥ ||

ମାର୍କଣ୍ଡେୟ କହିଲେ—ଋଷିମାନେ ସେହି ସ୍ଖଲିତ (ବୀର୍ୟ)କୁ ପୂଜା କଲେ; ତେଣୁ ସେ ‘ସ୍କନ୍ଦ’ ନାମରେ ପ୍ରସିଦ୍ଧ ହେଲା। ତାଙ୍କର ଛଅ ଶିର, ଦ୍ୱିଗୁଣ ଶ୍ରୋତ୍ର (ବାର କାନ), ଏବଂ ବାର ନେତ୍ର ଓ ବାର ଭୁଜାର ଅଦ୍ଭୁତ କ୍ରମ ଥିଲା।
