Kuntī’s Lament and Govinda’s Consolation
kṛpaś ca somadattaś ca mahārājaś ca bāhvlikaḥ | āsanebhyo 'calan sarve pūjayanto janārdanam ||
Even in politically charged settings, dharma is upheld through visible acts of respect and proper conduct; honoring a righteous envoy like Kṛṣṇa signals recognition of moral authority beyond factional interests.
As Kṛṣṇa is received in the Kuru court, respected elders—Kṛpa, Somadatta, and King Bāhvlika—rise from their seats to honor him, marking a formal and ethically significant welcome.
