The verse frames battlefield destruction through the image of Kāla (Time/Death), underscoring that reckless ambition and poor judgment lead to inevitable suffering; Duryodhana’s ‘manda-buddhi’ is portrayed as the ethical root of the coming torment.
Sañjaya reports a warrior’s fierce resolve to unleash continuous, blazing arrow-showers that will break enemy infantry and chariot formations; the anticipated result is Duryodhana’s intense distress as the battle turns grim.
