युधिछिर उवाच
The verse upholds dharma through reconciliation: even amid looming war, the highest aim is to restore familial bonds and prevent harm, seeking a settlement where all parties remain unharmed and peace is achieved through deliberate effort.
In the Udyoga Parva’s pre-war negotiations, Yudhiṣṭhira voices a heartfelt appeal for reunion between divided relatives and allies—Kurus/Kauravas and Pañcālas—urging Duryodhana to work toward calm, joyful peace rather than battle.
