वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights how decisive counsel and allegiance shape the course of dharma and conflict: Kṛṣṇa’s strategic intention is presented as favoring a confrontation with the Pāṇḍavas, while Bhīma and Arjuna are portrayed as firmly aligned with his guidance—suggesting that moral-political outcomes in the epic often turn on trusted leadership and chosen loyalties.
In the Udyoga Parva’s pre-war negotiations and maneuvering, the narrator reports a perception that Kṛṣṇa (Vāsudeva) desires a clash involving the Pāṇḍavas, and that Bhīma and Arjuna stand with Kṛṣṇa’s position—indicating the consolidation of the Pāṇḍava side around Kṛṣṇa’s counsel as war becomes imminent.
