युपर्ण उवाच
The verse presents the waxing Moon as a symbol of lawful renewal: by receiving sustaining essences (rasas) in due order, light is restored and darkness is dispelled—an image of dharma as cyclical reestablishment of balance.
Yuparṇa describes a cosmological process: Soma (the Moon) stays near Varuṇa, drinks six kinds of essences, and then rises anew at the start of the bright fortnight, growing in brilliance as a remover of darkness.
