Indra and Dharma’s Consolation; Celestial Gaṅgā Purification
भो भो राजन महाप्राज्ञ प्रीतो5स्मि तव पुत्रक । मद्धकत्या सत्यवाक्यैश्नल क्षमया च दमेन च
bho bho rājan mahāprajña prīto ’smi tava putraka | madbhaktyā satyavākyaiś ca kṣamayā ca damena ca ||
ହେ ହେ ରାଜନ, ମହାପ୍ରାଜ୍ଞ! ହେ ମୋ ପୁତ୍ର! ମୋ ପ୍ରତି ତୁମ ଭକ୍ତି, ସତ୍ୟବଚନ, କ୍ଷମା ଓ ଇନ୍ଦ୍ରିୟଦମ ଦ୍ୱାରା ମୁଁ ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ ପ୍ରସନ୍ନ।
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse commends foundational dharmic virtues—devotion to the worthy, truthfulness in speech, forgiveness/forbearance, and restraint of the senses—as qualities that make a person truly admirable and spiritually fit.
The speaker, Vaiśampāyana, addresses a king affectionately as “son” and expresses strong approval, explicitly listing the king’s virtues (devotion, truthful speech, patience, and self-control) as the reasons for his satisfaction.
