युधिछिर उवाच
The verse emphasizes disciplined dharma through regulated daily rites (purification and agnihotra) and restraint (measured diet, ascetic attire), presenting self-control and ritual order as ethical means to inner purification.
Yudhiṣṭhira declares his intention to adopt an ascetic regimen: bathing at the two daily ritual times, maintaining the fire-offering at the proper hours, eating sparingly to become lean, and wearing the traditional marks of a renunciant (deer-skin, bark garments, and matted hair).
