Discourse on Wealth and Royal Duty
राजर्षयो5पि ते स्वर्ग्या धर्मो होषां निरुच्यते । यथैव पूर्णादुदधे: स्यन्दन्त्यापो दिशो दश
rājarṣayo 'pi te svargyā dharmo hoṣāṃ nirucyate | yathaiva pūrṇād udadheḥ syandanty āpo diśo daśa
ଅର୍ଜୁନ କହିଲେ— ଆପଣ ଯେ ଧର୍ମ ପ୍ରତିପାଦନ କରୁଛନ୍ତି, ସେହି ଧର୍ମ ରାଜର୍ଷିମାନଙ୍କୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ସ୍ୱର୍ଗଦାୟକ। ଯେପରି ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ସମୁଦ୍ରରୁ ଜଳ ଦଶ ଦିଗକୁ ବହିଯାଏ, ସେପରି ଏହି ଧର୍ମୋପଦେଶ ମଧ୍ୟ—ସମୃଦ୍ଧ, ହିତକର, ମଙ୍ଗଳକର—ସମସ୍ତ ଦିଗରେ ପ୍ରସାରିତ ହୁଏ।
अर्जुन उवाच
Dharma, when rightly taught and practiced, is not narrow or sectarian: it is abundant, life-sustaining, and beneficial in every direction. Arjuna acknowledges that such dharma elevates even rulers to the status and destiny of royal sages, culminating in heavenly attainment.
Arjuna speaks in response to an ongoing exposition of dharma. He affirms the speaker’s teaching by comparing it to waters flowing from a full ocean into all ten directions, suggesting the instruction is comprehensive, overflowing, and universally applicable.
