The Unmanifest, Prakṛtis, and the Sense-Complex
नाधर्म: कारणापेक्षी कर्तारमभिमुज्चति । कर्ता खलु यथाकालं तत: समभिपद्यते
nādharmo kāraṇāpekṣī kartāram abhimuñcati | kartā khalu yathākālaṃ tataḥ samabhipadyate ||
ଅଧର୍ମ ଫଳ ଦେବା ପାଇଁ ତତ୍କ୍ଷଣାତ୍ କୌଣସି କାରଣର ଅପେକ୍ଷା କରେ ନାହିଁ; ସେ କର୍ତ୍ତାକୁ ଛାଡ଼େ ନାହିଁ। ସମୟ ପକ୍କ ହେଲେ, ସେଇ କର୍ତ୍ତା ନିଶ୍ଚୟ ଭାବେ ସେ ପାପର ଫଳକୁ ସାମ୍ନା କରେ ଏବଂ ଭୋଗେ।
पराशर उवाच
Adharma clings to its agent and yields its result inevitably; even if the consequence is delayed, time ripens the fruit of wrongdoing, and the doer must face it.
Parāśara is instructing the listener in Shānti Parva on ethical causality: wrongful acts are not nullified by delay or lack of immediate punishment; the moral result follows the perpetrator until the right time for fruition.
