वृत्र बवाच प्रत्यक्षमेतद्‌ भवतस्तथान्येषां मनीषिणाम्‌ । मया यज्जयलुब्धेन पुरा तप्तं महत्‌ तप:

Transliteration

Vṛtra uvāca pratyakṣam etad bhavatas tathānyēṣāṁ manīṣiṇām | mayā yaj-jaya-lubdhena purā taptaṁ mahat tapaḥ ||

Translation

ବୃତ୍ର କହିଲା—ହେ ବ୍ରହ୍ମନ୍! ଆପଣଙ୍କୁ ଓ ଅନ୍ୟ ମନୀଷୀମାନଙ୍କୁ ଏହା ପ୍ରତ୍ୟକ୍ଷ—ପୂର୍ବେ ବିଜୟଲୋଭରେ ପ୍ରେରିତ ହୋଇ ମୁଁ ଅତ୍ୟନ୍ତ ଘୋର ତପ କରିଥିଲି।
