Adhyāya 262: Śabda-brahman, Para-brahman, and the Ethics of Tyāga

Kapila–Syūmaraśmi Saṃvāda

न चैतानृत्विजो लुब्धा याजयन्ति फलार्थिन: । वे सात््विक महापुरुष उस ब्रह्मधामको ही प्राप्त होते हैं

na caitān ṛtvijo lubdhā yājayanti phalārthinaḥ | sāttvikā mahāpuruṣāḥ brahmadhāmaiva prāpnuvanti, na te svargakāṅkṣiṇaḥ; na te yaśo-dhanārthaṃ yajante; satpuruṣamārgeṇa caranti ca ahiṃsrayajñān anuṣṭhānti | vanaspati-annaphala-mūlāni eva te haviṣyaṃ manyante; dhanecchukānāṃ lubdhānām ṛtvijāṃ tair yajño na kāryate ||

ଚୂଳାଧାର କହିଲେ—ଫଳଲାଭର ଆଶା ନ ରଖୁଥିବା ଲୋକଙ୍କ ପାଇଁ ଲୋଭୀ ଋତ୍ୱିଜମାନେ ଯଜ୍ଞ କରାନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ। ଯେ ସାତ୍ତ୍ୱିକ ମହାପୁରୁଷମାନେ କେବଳ ପରମ ବ୍ରହ୍ମଧାମକୁ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ୟ କରନ୍ତି, ସେମାନଙ୍କର ସ୍ୱର୍ଗକାମନା ନାହିଁ; ଯଶ କିମ୍ବା ଧନ ପାଇଁ ସେମାନେ ଯଜ୍ଞ କରନ୍ତି ନାହିଁ। ସତ୍ପୁରୁଷମାର୍ଗ ଅନୁସରି ସେମାନେ ଅହିଂସାମୟ ଯଜ୍ଞାନୁଷ୍ଠାନ କରନ୍ତି ଏବଂ ଉଦ୍ଭିଦ, ଅନ୍ନ, ଫଳ ଓ ମୂଳକୁ ହବିଷ୍ୟ ଭାବେ ମାନନ୍ତି। ଏହାରେ ଲାଭ ନଥିବାରୁ ଧନଲୋଭୀ ପୁରୋହିତମାନେ ଏମିତି ଯଜ୍ଞ କରାଇବାକୁ ଅସ୍ୱୀକାର କରନ୍ତି।
