सर्व प्रियाभ्युपगतं धर्ममाहुर्मनीषिण: । पश्यैतं लक्षणोद्देशं धर्माधर्मे युधिछ्ठिर

Transliteration

sarva-priyābhyupagataṁ dharmam āhur manīṣiṇaḥ | paśyaitaṁ lakṣaṇoddeśaṁ dharmādharmayoḥ yudhiṣṭhira ||

Translation

ଭୀଷ୍ମ କହିଲେ—ମନୀଷୀମାନେ କହନ୍ତି, ସମସ୍ତଙ୍କ ପ୍ରତି ପ୍ରେମମୟ ସଦ୍ଭାବରେ ଭିତ୍ତିକୃତ ଯେ ଆଚରଣ, ସେହି ହିଁ ଧର୍ମ। ହେ ଯୁଧିଷ୍ଠିର, ଧର୍ମ ଓ ଅଧର୍ମ ଚିହ୍ନିବାର ସଂକ୍ଷିପ୍ତ ଲକ୍ଷଣ ଏହି: ଯାହା ସାର୍ବଜନୀନ ମଙ୍ଗଳଭାବ ଓ ପ୍ରେମକୁ ଅନୁକୂଳ, ସେ ଧର୍ମ; ଯାହା ତାହାର ବିପରୀତ, ସେ ଅଧର୍ମ।
