This line is a colophon rather than a doctrinal verse: it does not teach a new principle directly, but frames the chapter as part of Mokṣadharma—an ethical-spiritual discourse oriented toward liberation (mokṣa) and the disciplines, attitudes, and insights that support it.
The text is closing a chapter: it identifies the work (Mahābhārata), the larger book (Śānti Parva), the subsection (Mokṣadharma), and the immediate dialogic setting (Śuka’s follow-up inquiry), and then states that this is the 238th chapter.
