Educational Q&A

Actions leave enduring impressions that carry across cycles of creation; when beings are born again, they tend to repeat earlier behavioral patterns under the influence of prior karma and residual dispositions.

In a doctrinal explanation within Śānti Parva, Vyāsa describes how, in successive creations, beings re-manifest with tendencies shaped by what they did in earlier cycles, leading them to re-enact similar kinds of actions repeatedly.
