गुणानामपि यद्येतत्‌ कर्मणा चाप्युपस्थितम्‌ । तत्‌ तत्‌ शंसन्ति भूतानि मनो यद्धावितं यथा

Transliteration

guṇānām api yady etat karmaṇā cāpy upasthitam | tat tat śaṃsanti bhūtāni mano yad dhāvitaṃ yathā ||

Translation

ଭୀଷ୍ମ କହିଲେ— ଗୁଣମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ମଧ୍ୟ କର୍ମଦ୍ୱାରା ଯେ ଯେପରି ଭାବ ଉପସ୍ଥିତ ହୁଏ, ପ୍ରାଣୀମାନେ ସେହି ଅନୁରୂପ ଭାବେ ପ୍ରକଟ କରନ୍ତି। କର୍ମଦ୍ୱାରା ମନ ଯେପରି ଚାଳିତ ଓ ସଂସ୍କୃତ ହୁଏ, ସୂକ୍ଷ୍ମଭୂତମାନେ ସ୍ୱପ୍ନରେ ସେହିପରି ରୂପ ଦେଖାଇଦିଅନ୍ତି। ଏହିପରି ସ୍ୱପ୍ନର ଆକାର ସତ୍ତ୍ୱ-ରଜ-ତମ ଓ କର୍ମରେ ରଙ୍ଗିତ ମନ ଅନୁସାରେ ହୁଏ।
